Bob Dylan was born May 24, 1941 in Minnesota. He is an American artist, singer and songwriter. His music career has been going for more than five decades starting with his first album ‘Bob Dylan’ in 1962. Dylan is celebrating his album ‘Blonde on Blonde’ being 50 this year with tribute concerts being held in America and the UK. He has sold more than 100 million records and also produced six books of drawings and paintings. His famous ‘Never Ending Tour’ began in June 1988, he has performed more than 2,500 shows but has received some critiscm and controversy especially the Chinese tour in April 2011 where he allowed the Chinese authority to censor his list. He has also been known to change and alter his vocals constantly for each show. He has received many awards during his musical career which include 11 Grammy Awards and a Golden Globe. He has been awarded a Presidential Medal of Freedom from Barack Obama in 2012. He has been married twice and has six children. Bob Dylan and Mavis Staples will be playing together this year on a ‘Never Ending Tour’ and Dylan also announced that he will be doing an album, his 37th entitled ‘Fallen Angels’ due for release in May. Bob Dylan and Mavis Staples have some history together dating back from the 60’s with a marriage proposal from Dylan but he was turned down by Mavis as she thought she was to young at the time. Staples has called Dylan her lost love. The 27 date tour will start in June beginning in Washington and end in New Hampshire on July 17. Mavis Staples was born July 10, 1939, she is an American rhythm and blues and a gospel singer. She has had a successful music career producing 19 albums both as a solo artist and in a group with her family ‘The Staple Singers’. Mavis has appeared on many TV shows including The Cosby Show and Songs of Praise. There is a documentary ‘Mavis’ which had its premiere in March 2015 depicting her life. Mavis has also won a Grammy Award in 2011 for Best Americana Album. Mavis was married in 1964 for a short time which ended and she has no children.
